ON THE BAR: THAI BASIL MARGARITA

thai basil margarita

We had the tastiest frozen margaritas at The Mezzanine Hotel while we were in Tulum. They were Thai Basil, bright green, and two for one which made them even more delicious. Here I’m attempting to recreate them at home, and for now keeping it simple with an on the rocks recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

2 oz blanco tequila
1 oz fresh lime
handful of Thai basil leaves
splash of club soda
1 oz agave sweetener
1/2 oz St Germain

DIRECTIONS:

1. Run a lime wedge around the outer edge of your glass, and press into coarse salt.
2. In a cocktail shaker add Thai Basil leaves and agave syrup to the bottom and muddle.
3. Next add Tequila, a splash of St. Germain, and lime juice. Fill with ice and shake until it’s all mixed up.
4. Pour into your glass, top with a splash of soda and garnish with a sprig of Thai Basil
