Most of the time I like to keep it simple in the kitchen, but occasionally I come across a gadget that might be fun to have around. This avocado cuber for instance is certainly not necessary, but pretty nifty for perfectly sized chunks every time, and the herb keeper not only keeps herbs fresh, but also in plain sight. I do wonder how much it holds because the usual bunches of cilantro I get would definitely fill this up.
The 3-in-1 rotary peeler is inexpensive and compact. It has a standard blade, soft skin blade, and julienne blade so you can cut potatoes, tomatoes and thin matchstick strips with just one tool. Lastly is the apple corer that also slices. Great for those holiday tarts and pies, or a perfectly sliced afternoon snack.
